Ryan Salim, the founder of ERRELUCE®, stands at the forefront of lighting design and has received recognition for his emotionally and visually evocative approach to creating atmosphere. His journey began with a deep passion for photography, nurtured from a young age, which develope his keen awareness of how light and shadow interact. This fascination allowed him to see the world through a lens that highlighted the transformative power of light in shaping perception and mood. Ryan has a unique perspective on how to develop and realize fresh design ideas. He believes that simplicity opens the door to deeper understanding, that being less allows one to see more. A master’s degree alumnus of the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Milan, he specialized in lighting design, building on his background as a professional interior designer. This specialization equipped him with the expertise to illuminate diverse environments with precision and creativity. Over the years, Ryan has honed his ability to perceive space through light, ensuring balance between emotion and quality in both interiors and architecture. He also believes that collaboration is the key to achieving the full potential of any project.
With a strong foundation in interior lighting, Ryan integrates his photographic sensibility into his work, creating designs that achieve a delicate balance where the interplay of light harmonizes with interiors, materials, and architecture. He has led more than 900 projects, ranging from intimate cafes and lively bars to tranquil residences and dynamic commercial spaces. Since founding ERRELUCE® in 2015, Ryan has been the driving force behind the studio’s creative vision. As principal designer, he brings a profound understanding of light to every project, crafting experiences that enhance and elevate how people interact with their environment, giving each space its soul. His work moves beyond convention, offering a luminous fusion of art and design that continues to inspire and captivate.
ERRELUCE® is an award-winning lighting design consultancy based in Jakarta since 2015. The studio is committed to collaboration throughout the design process and places great importance on communication with all parties involved, including clients, architects, interior designers, landscapers, and branding and graphic teams.
